news trading

Updated over a month ago

At 1of1 Futures, we want to encourage traders to prioritize stable, rule-based approaches over speculative tactics during news events, as news-driven strategies can undermine the disciplined trading practices essential for long-term consistency and profitability. To support a fair and stable trading environment, please adhere to the following rules and guidelines regarding trading during news releases.

Guidelines for Tier 1 Data Releases

No positions or orders (including limit orders) may be open 2 minutes before and 2 minutes after tier 1 news releases. Violations of this rule will result in the removal of account profits, and losses will not be compensated.

Tier 1 News Includes:

  • All Assets: FOMC Meetings, FOMC Minutes, Employment Report, CPI

  • Energy Assets: EIA Report

  • Agricultural Assets: USDA Agricultural Reports

Prohibited News Trading Activities

Traders must follow specific guidelines if they choose to trade during news releases not classified as Tier 1. The following activities are strictly prohibited:

  • Utilizing strategies specifically designed to capitalize on rapid news-driven price movements, such as straddles or strangles.

  • Using news trading as a sole strategy

Standard Trading Protocols

To maintain trading integrity, follow these protocols during all other news events not classified as Tier 1.

  • Use your regular trading strategy during news intervals.

  • Enter trades based on standard entry rules.

Please note that news events may occasionally cause platform disruptions, and 1of1 Futures is not liable for any issues that may arise should you choose to trade during these times.

These guidelines apply to accounts in Sim Funded and Live Funded stages.
